Make-Up Routine (Work Edition)

This is my make-up routine during the work week. It roughly takes 5 mins, which saves a few more minutes of sleep. After a year of working full-time, I have finally figured out what items are the easiest, quickest and best to apply for me. I have dry to oily skin and have large pores, so it is important for me to find the right items that will help maintain my oiliness throughout the day and minimize my pores.

After moisturizer (Click HERE to see what moisturizer I use), I begin with a primer. My favorite is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Primer. It is on the expensive side. But, a little really does go along way. I've had this primer for about 6 months now and I've only used about 1/8 of it. I really enjoy this primer because I feel it working into my skin compared to just sitting on it like silicon primers. It is moisturizing and full of coconut extract which forms a natural vitamin rich barrier between your skin and make-up (You can read about it more HERE).

Next, I apply my foundation. I know this Tarte foundation just released about a month ago but ever since I purchased it I won't let it go. The Tarte Clay Stick foundation has cut my foundation time because it melts into my skin and makes it easy to blend. It is vegan free and full of Vitamin E, and C, which is another plus to your skin.

If I am lacking sleep that day or have a blemish I just add more coverage with a concealer. My first choice has been the Becca Aqua Luminous Concealer. It is literally an all-in-one concealer. It covers dark circles and blemish while giving a luminous look. Also, it is 32% water enriched which makes it even easier to blend into the skin.

After I have applied my foundation, I always set with some sort of powder. My favorite to set foundation is loose translucent powders. Another great product is the Dermablend Loose Setting powder. It perfectly locks in my foundation and helps minimize any oil throughout the day.

Next I apply my bronzer and blush. I love my Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer and Nars Blush in Seduction. The TF Chocolate Bronzer is not just a favorite because it smells like chocolate, but because it is matte/shimmer free bronzer which gives me a more natural and professional look at work. When I first saw the Nars Blush in Seduction I was intimidated because it was such dark berry color. But once I tested it, it gave me such a beautiful flush color that looked so natural. I definitely recommend this color (just use in moderation depending on your skin tone)!!! After applying my bronzer and blush, and blend with a fluffy brush.

I  don't always use a highlighter on my face for work. but, when I do, I use the Becca liquid highlighter. It is so easy to blend and adds a natural light to my face. I first apply it to my fingers and dab it on the high points of my face. I blend the rest in with a Tarte Double ended highlighter brush.

With my eyes I try to keep it simple and quick. No eyeliner just mascara, and my favorite for length and volume is the Stilla HUGE Extreme lash mascara. For my eyebrows I like to use pencil because I find it the quickest and most natural looking. My two favorites are the Benefit My brow pencil ultra fine in shade 3 and Anastasia Brow Wiz in medium brown.

I finish the look off with a lip color. I tend to go more for berry tone colors for my skin tone because I prefer the natural look compared to other colors. My go to's for work is the BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipstick and Nars Velvet Lip Glide.
